Tawa Pulao

When ever we have potlucks the concentration is on good food, great booze and loads of fun. If you ask the guys in the group what do you want for main course it would never be a vegetarian item and we end up making variety of non veg. But Sunita is  our one and only vegetarian groupie and every time she is the one who would prepare some thing vegetarian. So this post is dedicated to her, as she introduced me to tawa pulao and makes its real good.

I am not sure if its the actual receipt for tawa pulao or not but this is how I make it. Sunita correct me if I  am wrong :)

Ingredients:

  1. Rice: 1 cup
  2. Onion: 1 medium thinly sliced
  3. Green chilli: 2 slit
  4. Green peas: 1/2 cup
  5. Carrot: 1 medium chopped
  6. Button Mushroom: 10cut into half
  7. Tomato: 1 small chopped
  8. Paneer: few cubes fried
  9. Salt: as per taste
  10. Cumin seed: 1 tsp
  11. Pao Bhaji Masala: 1 tsp
  12. Red chilli Powder: 1tsp
  13. Oil: 2 tsp
  14. Water: 2 cups

Procedure:

In a rice cooker cook the rice with 2 cups of water.
In a pan heat oil, add cumin seeds.
As the cumin seeds stop spluttering add the green chili and onion slices and pinch of salt.
Cook for 2-3 mins till onions start turing translucent. Add the  the vegetables, salt , chili powder and cook till vegetables are done. Add the tomato and Pao Bhaji masala and fry the vegetables for 3-4 mins.
Add the cooked rice and fry alone with vegetables stirring occasionally for 2-4 mins.
Add the fried paneer cubes and enjoy with raita.

I hope Sunita approves the recipe!!!
